Lyon's Pride Takes the Early Lead...and holds on to it...for now.
Things got shook up a little this week with the unexpected cancellation of the popular Cajun Canyon's Classic due to weather. The Series now moves to Bobby Carter's Mississippi Gulf Coast Classic this weekend.
The first leg of the highly anticipated 2017 Triple Crown Championship Series is complete. And a new face is in the lead for the first time. Captain Daniel Menard and the team of Lyon's Pride out of Destin, Florida won first place honors this weekend during the Orange Beach Billfish Classic at the Wharf. Daniel weighed an impressive 431.6 pound Blue Marlin to earn him 250 points and the Championship points lead as the Series moves to Mississippi next. But, Daniel's got company right behind him and someone who's no stranger to the Triple Crown. Captain Devin Potts on the Sea Mixer placed second at the OBBC and earned himself second place in the GCTC standings. Rounding out third, fourth and fifth is Team Reel Addiction who took top honors in catch and release (without Rocky and Laurie onboard the boat), A Work of Art (without Art onboard, wonder if this is a trend?) and the Gunnslinger.
Stay tuned. Things are sure to get exciting this weekend in Biloxi.
